Erupting Volcano

This is an active volcano on the Ambrym Island. This video contains footage of Marum Crater’s lava lake. Marum crater consist of basaltic lava. The caldera that it’s found in is believed to have been formed 1900 years ago during a large eruption. Several scoria cones were formed from post-caldera eruptions, and the volcano remains one of the most active in the world.

Part of me wishes something like this was a bit closer (but not too close) so that I can go on an adventure to see it, but then the other part of me says that I’m very grateful there’s not. I guess Yellowstone will have to do.

If you want some more info about Marum Crater, this website has some good things.
